Welcoming Spring
This newsletter shares about March being Women’s History month! We talk about the importance of celebrating the history of women so that women can continue the fight to move forward in society. Additionally, we share some resources on how to take an eco-friendly approach to spring cleaning this year with the help of professional house cleaner and organizer, Amanda Mullins. Finally, we include information on the Eden Restoration Project, a group of folks working towards minimizing food insecurity in Waukegan, IL. Spearheaded by Michael J. Brankin, the Eden Project has created gardens, farmers markets, and other sustainable practices for the community to better support their needs; you definitely should check them out!
As always, thank you so much for taking the time to engage with this month’s content. Take care!
Heart Health Month
This newsletter shares about February being HEART HEALTH awareness month! We talk about how even a short, half an hour walk every day can improve the quality of your life; for example, walking can reduce your risk of serious diseases like heart disease, stroke, diabetes, and several types of cancer. Additionally, we share some resources on how shifting your lifestyle habits can have a immensely positive impact on your heart health. However, it’s super important to remember that one’s “cardiorespiratory fitness” is different for everyone - SO running 2-3 miles a day might work for some while others might choose to walk 30-40 minutes a day… and both possibilities benefit the heart! Finally, we include a seasonal recipe - Slow-Cooker Chicken and White Bean Stew! Beans are rich in heart healthy minerals to support heart function, and carrots and onions are perfect seasonal produce to use in February. Enjoy this delicious and warm stew… and as always, thank you so much for taking the time to engage with this month’s content! Take care!
Leaning into the New
This newsletter recapped our successes after almost being one full year post-website launch for SustainableLife.Live! To celebrate that, Annemarie is offering a pretty incredible 50% off discount for her personal training and group/corporate lecture services. Specifics about the pricing are included in this post, but if you are interested in booking, this offer is only valid from now (1/19) until March 1st. Please reach out to Annemarie via the Contact page to schedule!
We also share a bit more on vision boards and how they can help you continue moving forward in the new year. Again, setting New Year’s resolutions can sometimes be toxic if the pressure is mainly put on changing your physical body and conforming to societal standards for what it means to be “happy” or “successful”. Instead, vision boards are much more broad and are rooted in your deeper values! We hope you feel inspired to make one if that speaks to you.
Lastly, we ended with a delicious seasonal recipe to highlight some of this season’s wonderful root vegetables. As always, thank you all so much for taking the time to read through these newsletters! Take care and be well.
Appreciating the Present Moment
This newsletter debunked New Year’s resolutions, pointing out how they can oftentimes be more harmful than helpful when it comes to “goals” altering the body through extreme dieting and exercise. Instead of making New Year’s resolutions, we shared several tips and activities that you can do with family and friends that are both uplifting and value-oriented to kick off the start of 2023 with extra care, mindfulness, and appreciation! We also included another breathing exercise video demonstration - learn about “nadi shodhana”, a great breathing technique to calm and destress around this crazy holiday season! Finally, as the cold, bitterness of winter sets in, be sure to check out this newsletter’s tips on keeping your skin WELL and flake free this season. We provided moisturizer recommendations, bathing strategies, and all things eco-friendly skincare routines to help keep your skin glowing, even in the cold air. Thank you so much for engaging with the content from this December newsletter - see you all in the New Year!
Together and Thankful
This month’s newsletter focused on language around food as we approach the holiday season; understanding how to set boundaries and calling out the “food police” are both important concepts for family and friends to be aware of so that everyone can have enjoyable mealtimes. We also included information on essential oils, their different purposes, and where to find reliable essential oil products from Melaleuca. Lastly, this month’s seasonal recipe was apple yogurt and homemade granola parfaits. Again, we promote an inclusive approach to food, and this recipe is perfect to indulge either as a breakfast option or an afternoon snack! Thank you and take care!
Harvesting Peace
This newsletter highlighted October being breast cancer awareness month by providing a list of proactive tips to protect all bodies from breast cancer! We also included our Melaleuca product recommendations to promise non-toxic personal items that are safe for family and friends. This month’s seasonal recipe was delicious pumpkin muffins… a perfect way to get into the spirit of fall! Finally, we ended this newsletter with a video demonstration for legs-up-the-wall pose. Especially as our schedules start to get busier, it’s important to take time out of your day to decompress and simply breathe. This pose is perfect for relaxing and resetting, and it’s extremely accessible for all! Thank you for engaging with this month’s content — and be well!
Moving in Autumn
This newsletter took a deep dive into the safety of household cleaners; identifying toxic chemicals in spray cleaners and detergents is important for both family and friends to stay safe cleaning this fall! Additionally, we shared another seasonal recipe … autumn squash soup! Enjoy making this warm cup of soup to pair with the crisp fall evenings. Finally, we highlighted our “Athletes and Nutrition” presentation as many athletes are training in their respective fall sports. However, even if you are not on a “team”, understanding how to refuel and nourish your body is essential for staying well. Thank you for engaging in the content from this September newsletter!
The Changing of Seasons
This newsletter highlighted our first seasonal recipe: hearty tomato salsa! We will be sharing more seasonal recipes in the future, but our emphasis on using what is ripe and ready plays a large part in living out our sustainable mission! Additionally, this newsletter includes a yoga demonstration for a chest opener posture that is quick and accessible! Finally, the newsletter ends with two links to our Airbnbs that are now posted on our website; both the Colorado and the Wisconsin Airbnb are equipped with eco-friendly cleaning products, refurbished and up-cycled furniture (besides mattresses), and other eclectic finds for families and friends alike! Enjoy our August newsletter!
Summer is in Full Swing
This newsletter celebrated all of the fun things summer entails… but staying protected from the sun is a must! Read about the benefits of mineral sunscreen, join Annemarie in a body scan meditation, and check out some of Sarah’s older blog posts on how to practice body acceptance. Especially in the warmer months, it can get very tricky to show radical love to yourself in a bathing suit if your relationship between yourself and your body is not rooted in a good place! Enjoy this July newsletter!
Hello, Summer!
This newsletter was sent out to kick off the summer! There is a guided breathing meditation video led by Sarah, information on what bug spray is safe to use in the summer, AND some helpful tips on how to stay hydrated in the heat! Enjoy :)
New Look: Website Launch
