Summer is in Full Swing

Mineral Sunscreen?!

Sunscreen is a definite must 365

The biggest change you can make in your daily routine is to wear a sunscreen with an SPF of at least 30 every day. Always avoid getting burned. Wear a hat, sun shirt, and sunglasses when possible. Always see a board certified dermatologist if you notice any changes in your skin.

Why Mineral Sunscreen?
Mineral sunscreens are safer for people who are concerned about long-term exposure to chemical ingredients; they are also ideal for people with sensitive skin, melisma, eczema and children with sensitive skin.

Chemical sunscreens filter against UVB radiation and mineral sunscreens protect against both UVB (this protects the skin from sunburns) and UVA (this is the wave length that causes wrinkles and sunspots). Mineral sunscreens also start to work immediately while chemical sunscreens can take up to 30 minutes to start working.

Mineral sunscreens are safer for the environment and better for aquatic life!

Guided Meditation: Body Scan

A body scan is a form of mindfulness meditation where you can scan your body for any lines of tension, pain, or tightness; it is also a great way to develop a deeper relationship and/or awareness with yourself and your body.

The benefits of this practice can include reduced anxiety, improved sleep, decreased physical pain, better focusing and attention skills, and greater self awareness between the body and mind!

Do I have a “Summer Body”?!

Finally, as you schedule more beach trips with family and friends this summer, it is super important to remember that no “one body” is a “bathing suit ready” body. All bodies are equally capable of rocking different types of swimsuits all summer long! There is this elusive culture and notion that one has to workout with no break in the months leading up to summer so that the body is “ready” for the warm weather with more skin showing. Not only is this thought process extremely toxic, but it also paints the picture that certain bodies are “better” than others. Instead, I want you to remember that your body is beautiful - no matter the shape and size - and the way you look should never interfere with your decision to rock that bikini (or any other bathing suit) on your next beach day!
