Welcoming Spring

With fewer cold, wintery days and the prospects of the warm sunshine upon us, we hope you enjoy this month’s newsletter that includes all things spring!

Eco-Friendly Spring Cleaning

Amanda, from Living Clean Ecofriendly, is a professional house cleaner and organizer. Check out what she has to share below about spring cleaning!

“As a professional organizer, I help you organize and declutter.”
Here are some easy to follow tips for SPRING CLEANING

  • Pick one room at a time

  • Have 4 piles for 1) keep, 2) garbage, 3) donate and 4) recycling

  • Put the donate items in your car immediately and drop them off or have someone do it for you right away

  • Wash walls with a flat mop (I like the bona mop)

  • Refresh your sofa (vacuum it) and use the upholstery attachment; then use a eco friendly deodorizer (I recommend sol-u-mel)

Celebrating Women’s History Month

March is also Women’s History Month, “a celebration of women’s contributions to history, culture, and society” (2023). It’s extremely important to highlight and celebrate the history of women and how it has evolved over time, because without specific recognition, the efforts of many women throughout history could be forgotten. Celebrating Women’s History Month is also a constant reminder for today’s young women to continue the hard work of moving forward in a society that still largely prioritizes a patriarchal approach to life. Understanding how to balance a society where all gender expressions are treated with dignity, respect, and compassion is a goal that we should all strive for in the years to come.

Please enjoy this article and video from The History Channel on the origins of Women’s History Month and key women that have shaped American history.

Eden Restoration Project

Lastly, part of spring involves starting anew and getting more involved in your local community… so meet Michael J. Brankin, the chief mulch mover for the Eden Restoration Project!

“We started the Eden Restoration Project about 5 years ago now. And it came from a discussion about food insecurity and the health ramifications that comes from poor diet. Since then, we have installed over 36 gardens, planted 125 fruit trees, launched 3 farmers markets, and we are now looking at doing a regular show to bring on vegan/vegetarian cooks and share food growing methods. We have focused mostly on food deserts, but we feel everyone should be growing their own food. It is imperative your health, and the community, that we reacquire these skills.”

“One resource we’ve found to help people grow their own garden, in the simplest way possible, is the Back to Eden Film (www.BacktoEdenFilm.com). You’ll learn how growing your own food is simple and easy, and can be done anywhere. And if you want to learn how to grow food on land you don’t own, then feel free to shoot me an email, because we are growing food on 3 acres of land we don’t own.”

“And lastly, if you want to help us grow more food, teach more kids how to grow food, build more farmers markets, or install more gardens, then we could use your financial support at: www.EdenEvents.live/2023
