Environmental wellness is determined by the strength of the relationship between an individual and their environment. 

The environment you have the most control over is your HOME. And it can have a big impact on the digital health of your family. Here are some simple ways to foster healthy digital relationships.

THE KITCHEN
The heart of the home. Tech free meals improve are scientifically proven to improve social behavior. Chatting over breakfast can lead to lower rates of depression, substance abuse and eating disorders, academic performance. 

THE BEDROOM
Science shows sleeping with your phone undermines cognitive functioning and mental health. The majority of adults do it, and kids are waking up in the middle of the night to use theirs. Many studies show people who sleep next to their phones do not sleep well or as long.  

THE BATHROOM
Three out of four Americans use their phone on the toilet. Phone screens carry ten times more bacteria than toilet seats. YUCK! YUCK!!

THE CAR
This was actually something I started when my kids were young (pre smart phone) but we had to agree on a station and listen together, no individual music devices. Therapists agree this is good bounding time. Setting a positive example of cell free driving will serve you well down the road.
